Good One, George!

Via Wonkette.

good one george[ video ]

See? That joke was pretty funny after all.

Bastard.

Note: Matt Yglesias points out that the video would be more politcally effective if it stuck with American casualties and didn't drift to Iraqis. Sadly, probably true. If it shows Iraqi casualties, you'll remember, it's propaganda.

Propaganda in what sense? It's not pushing a political party. It's simply making a statement and showing some truth. I think it's good that he shows there were casualities on both sides, for absolutely nothing.
I think it's more politically effective this way. But then again, I'm looking at it from a Canadian point of view. Maybe to Americans, being (more so) effected by American politics it would be.
I always think of Propaganda as selling something. This video is simply trying to shed light on reality, and thus why I argue as to it being propaganda.

Sorry, effected = affected

Hi Jeannette,

My remark about propaganda was meant to be sarcastic. What I was saying was that a popular attitude down here, and one being heavily promoted by our leaders, is that if Al-Jazeera or Al-Arabia show pictures of mutilated Iraqi children they are engaging in propaganda, but we naturally do not apply those same standards to our own media.

This is just the way it goes, unfortunately, and my point was that, given this attitude, this video would have been more effective (in the U.S.) without those images. With those images in, it will be dismissed or reviled by many to whom it may otherwise give pause.
