schiavo poll

Kevin Drum and Think Progress point to a very interesting new poll released today by ABC News on the Schiavo case.

So not only do fully 70% of those polled think Congress' intervention is inappropriate, but 67% aren't buying the motivation of political leaders, either.

Further, it seems that even the "base" that the nuts are trying to excite doesn't much agree with them. Among evangelical Protestants, 46% support the removal of Schiavo's feeding tube, while 44% oppose, and they oppose Congressional intervention by a majority of 50 to 44 percent. Close numbers, sure, but keep in mind these are the evangelicals. If you add in non-evangelical Protestants and Catholics, the majorities climb to about two-thirds.

"But isn't it curious that all of this happened on the second anniversary of the invasion of Iraq? By neatly providing a divisive issue, the administration was easily able to divert attention from the protests that took place this weekend."

Hadn't thought about that... I guess it was a distraction from more than just Delay.

It's also a nice distraction from all the other nonsense the republican majority in congress could be forcing on us.

The more they spin their wheels with steroids in baseball and this "culture of life" bullshit, the fewer corporate giveaways we'll have to endure before all these "end times" evangelical nutjob congressmen come up for relection in 2006.

Yeah.. sorry about the 500 errors. It happens to me too. The best advice I can give that doesn't involve me doing something about it, is if you get a 500 error, just let it slide. The comment is always entered into the database, even if it doesn't show up on the page, and I routinely go in and rebuild the ones that didn't show up.

I don't know what happened, it was working fine for long time, and I haven't changed anything. Ah well..

I feel that I need to add my voice to the Terry Schiavo case. I want Michael Schiavo and his family and the judges to know that there are those of us who don't rant and wave and picket, who think that Michael is doing the right thing. I hope that the people who love me would fight as hard as he is to make sure my wishes are carried out. The United States is 47th in industrial nations in child poverty. Many of these children don't have health care or proper food. I wish those supporting the pro life movement spent half the time and money they have on the Schiavo case to address the issues of the this tranvesty vs. sticking their self righteous noses into people's bedrooms, life and death decisions and other personal choices.

I came to your site accidentially, but found it very good to read. Thanks.
