So They Say

You know what I don't get? I don't get the inclusion of the song "Money" on Dark Side of the Moon. Why is that in there? It sucks.

Maybe I'll burn myself a copy of the album without Money. Personally, I think The Great Gig in the Sky would go right into Us & Them very nicely.

Have to agree with you on this one. I can't remember the last time I listened to DSotM without skipping that song.

Wow, disagree strongly. First of all, I think it is a brilliant song on just about every level, from conception to execution, including the recording process (admission - I own the DSoM episode of the "Great Album" series). David Gilmour's vocals and guitar playing, I think, are brilliant (never mind that he was all of, what? 23 at the time...) And that bass line! One of the all time greats. (A little music geekery - it's in seven-four time - do people know this? And then the band switches into regular four for the guitar solo.) Thematically, Roger Waters describes the album as being about, well, "Us and Them" - two peoples trying to get along. The cynicism of money versus the idealism of hippie rock musicians? I don't know... I just can't imagine it missing.

Completely agree with alec, i couldn't imagine DSoTM without money, and also, what would happen to the wizard of Oz and DSoTM audio visual mix, it would screw one of the few scenes in which they match almost perfectly.

Well, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree with this one, guys. On second though, I don't agree to that.

I hesitate to argue with Alec, as he is an ass-kicking guitar player, and therefore he's right and I'm wrong.

Still, I just don't like Money. I'm not saying it's not a "good" song in a technical or creative sense, I'm just saying I don't like it. It rankles.
